POSITION SUMMARY
The Community College of Aurora resides in one of the fastest growing suburbs of the Denver metropolitan area. The college is a progressive, dynamic, and culturally expansive institution experiencing rapid growth, but with a strong commitment to high quality education and student success. The Community College of Aurora's Dean of Student Success plays a primary role in student engagement, retention, and success. The dean will provide leadership and support to the student conduct process, special projects, student leadership initiatives, and student development within areas such as career readiness, civic engagement, and other skill building initiatives.

OVERVIEW OF CCA

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. More than 20 different languages and 60 countries are represented at CCA. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative

  • Oversee the student conduct process-including case assignment, adjudication, and analysis-and provide proactive, restorative, and trauma-informed recommendations for the college to support positive student behavior.
  • Provide supervision and strategic, student-centered leadership for co-curricular education, civic engagement opportunities, career coaching, and skill building initiatives.
  • Oversee Commencement event planning and oversight in coordination with the VP of Student Success and Commencement Planning Committee.
  • Serve as advisor for Student Government Association and collaborate with campus leadership, faculty and instructors to ensure shared governance.
  • Lead and collaborate on various student success projects and initiatives on behalf of the VP.
  • Maintain effective communication with students and oversee the Student Handbook to ensure clarity, accessibility, and alignment with institutional guidelines.
  • Actively advocate for increased student engagement and support co-curricular initiatives that enhance the student experience.
  • Provide guidance on divisional policies, procedures, services, and activities to create more equitable outcomes for students.
  • Serve as proxy to the VP, representing the college internally and externally to further its mission and vision, while fulfilling additional duties as requested.

Compliance & Assessment
  • Chair the behavioral intervention team, including coordinating risk assessments, maintaining training compliance and campus awareness.
  • Serve as a Title IX/EO intake officer conducting student inquiries on related referrals and providing prevention education programming and resources.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee annual budgets for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with all relevant budget laws, policies, and guidelines.
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority and collaborate with the Director of Security and Emergency Management to complete the Biennial Drug-Free Schools Act Report and the Stop Campus Hazing Report.
  • Ensure compliance with Colorado Community College System policies, CCA procedures, and state and federal requirements.
  • Lead the continuous improvement and assessment of student engagement programming, ensuring alignment with CCA's strategic plan.




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Educational Leadership, or related field.
  • Progressively responsible experience in student affairs, student conduct and compliance, student engagement or related student support services.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional staff supervision across multiple student support functional areas.
  • Experience planning and coordinating large scale, campus wide initiatives such as Commencement ceremonies.
  • Strong commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and belonging, with experience serving diverse student populations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in a community college or open-access institution
  • Prior experience advising Student Government and supporting both academic and co-curricular student-led organizations.
  • Experience chairing a Behavior Intervention Team, leading campus-wide crisis management efforts, and Maxient utilization.





SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range is $105,000.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
