Student Resource Navigator

Job Summary

Center for Student Access & Resources (CSAR) at the University of Utah enthusiastically welcomes applications for our Student Resource Navigator. This position will work with CSAR scholars by providing ongoing holistic support as a way to increase retention, graduation, and career readiness. This person will support student success from start to graduation using high impact, data-informed practices. The Student Resource Navigator will work as part of the CSAR team and contribute to the overall mission of the organization by engaging in planning, outreach, development initiatives, and assessment. This position reports to an Associate Director of CSAR. This is not a remote position but will offer some flexibility regarding hours and work schedule to meet the needs of the office and our students.

Responsibilities
General
  • Provide individual guidance and support to students by linking them to resources and campus opportunities
  • Maintain awareness of relevant student support resources on campus
  • Assist with planning and facilitating annual scholars orientations
  • Assist other SRNs in offering engaging programs and scholarship support to scholars and other students
  • Build effective relationships with campus and community partners, collaborating as needed to best serve students
  • Work collaboratively with the CSAR leadership team to compile detailed reports on the impact of donor funding that supports scholarships and programs
  • Actively engage as a team member to support the essential functions of the entire office
  • May assign, direct, and review work of support staff, graduate students, and interns
  • Other responsibilities as assigned to support CSAR


Scholarships & Financial Support
  • General
    • Serve on and/or chair scholarship review and selection committees with a focus on non-traditional and parenting students
    • Develop recruitment plans for non-traditional and parenting scholars including with a specific emphasis on single parents
  • Heidi & Greg Miller Single-Parent Cohort Scholarship Program
    • Facilitate at least 5 meaningful cohort gatherings/experiences for up to 10 single parent scholars
    • Meet with cohort scholars at least once per semester to support their academic success throughout their academic career
    • Coordinate outreach and education for prospective cohort members
  • Individual scholars
    • Meet with non-cohort scholars at least once per academic year
  • Student Support Fund
    • May support Student Support Fund application review process
Problem Solving

This position provides independent coordination and decision making for all activities of a specified program. Acts as a liaison between students and campus and community entities. Any problems that may arise in these coordination efforts will be addressed by the incumbent who will refer to the manager for issues outside of program policy and procedure guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 2 years of directly related experience or equivalency
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team member
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required
  • Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description






Preferences
  • Master's Degree in related field.
  • 3 years of experience
  • Experience working with non-traditional and parenting students and familiarity with the unique needs and challenges of these students.
