Health Simulation Coordinator (Technical Specialist)

MCCC Unit Professional position, Grade 5

44-Week position

Campus Location: Danvers

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00 am - 3:00 pm with some flexibility, occasional evening and/or weekend hours as necessary.

SALARY: Anticipated starting prorated salary for 44 weeks per year is $59,079.30 - $60,923.07. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

This position has the overall responsibility for the coordination, performance, promotion, and support of effective simulation lab(s) experiences for all students, faculty, the College Community, and workforce development initiatives/programs. In conjunction with Academic Technology and Information Systems, this position provides technical support for the routine operation and troubleshooting of simulation equipment, computers, audio-visual components, web-based programs, and other necessary components/equipment. In conjunction with college staff, this position will actively promote the benefits and support the use of NSCC's simulation technology in providing an optimal learning experience for NSCC students and meeting the training needs of our regional healthcare employers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Coordinate all aspects of the daily operation of the simulation lab(s), including but not limited to:
  2. performance of scenarios (prep-to-clean up); scheduling; equipment purchasing and maintenance; budget monitoring; inventory of supplies and equipment; writing and maintaining lab policies and procedures. Track usage of the SIM lab(s) and other simulation equipment to identify effective use, educational impact, and current and future funding needs.
  3. Make recommendations to the Dean regarding budget expenditures for simulation technology, equipment, and supplies, following the College's established policies and procedures to purchase approved items. In partnership with Faculty/Staff, performing simulation scenarios (from prep to clean-up).
  4. Support train/staff in the benefits and efficacy of simulation scenarios in meeting learning outcomes.
  5. Training support staff on the components of simulation-based learning experiences.
  6. Provide tech support for faculty to use for briefing and debriefing of simulation experiences.
  7. Serve as liaison with Academic Technology and Information Systems to establish and maintain the operation of technologies within the simulation labs, including manikins, audio/visual, and computer equipment.
  8. Provide initial support to faculty, staff, and students using the hardware, software, and other materials associated with the simulation lab experience.
  9. Perform intermediate/advanced troubleshooting procedures to resolve technical issues related to simulation equipment and the associated audio/visual and computer components.
  10. Train faculty/staff to perform initial troubleshooting procedures to resolve technical issues related to simulation equipment and the associated audio/visual and computer components.
  11. Works with the Dean to provide simulation-based experiences to the College Community and external agencies.
  12. Pursues continuous professional growth and development in simulation experiences for health profession education, academic technology, and technical support as necessary.
  13. Coordinate and train the standardized participants.
  14. Maintain all SIM documents and the calendar.
  15. Performs other related duties as needed.
  16. Coordinate duties with other sim staff.


Job Requirements:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, and three years of experience in a healthcare or higher education environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a minimum of three years of experience working in direct patient care in a hospital or ambulatory care setting.
  • Must have training in at least one clinical health career.
  • Must know Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Health Care Assessment.
  • Must have strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a national background check as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualification:
  • CHSE or CHOSE credential or eligible to obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience working with different healthcare professionals and staff is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgets, purchasing, and inventory and scheduling systems preferred.
  • Experience with simulations utilizing advanced computer and academic technologies (preferably in a healthcare or educational setting) or the equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience with accreditation agencies for health profession programs or healthcare facility accreditation is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with electronic health record systems is preferred; experience with EPIC is strongly preferred.
