What We Are Looking For
Baylor University has an Electronic Resources and Serials Cataloging Support position in which the incumbent will play a vital role in maintaining accurate and efficient cataloging of electronic resources and serials within the university's library system. This role involves collaborating with library staff to ensure seamless access to digital and serial collections while adhering to cataloging standards and processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to supporting the academic community's research needs.
A Bachelor's degree and up to one year of relevant work experience are required. A Master's degree and three years of relevant work experience is preferred.
*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Perform primarily complex copy cataloging, as well as some basic original cataloging of electronic resources print serial titles
- Assist with resolving discovery and access issues arising from missing or incorrect data in bibliographic and/or portfolio records, including contributing to projects to correct record and coverage data issues
- Aid in reviewing and as needed, enhancing catalog records for electronic resources, including e-books, electronic journals, licensed databases, online integrating resources, and some streaming resources, according to established standards and national and local best practices
- Assist with batch-loading and maintenance of vendor-supplied catalog records for e-resource packages that are not managed by the Alma Community Zone knowledgebase, including evaluating and editing records with tools such as MarcEdit
- Provide support with technical troubleshooting associated with various electronic resources and serials cataloging problems
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
