What We Are Looking For
Baylor University's Institute for Oral History seeks to hire an Oral History Fellow who will serve as a researcher and Interviewer to aid in researching, recording, collecting, and preserving oral histories. The individual for this position, with graduate training in oral history, would conduct research, liaise with interviewees, process recordings, oversee transcription, edit transcripts, and facilitate interviewee reviews for interviews. This position would report to the Director of the Institute for Oral History.
This is a temporary 1-year position with the potential for extension.
*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
A Master's degree and two years of relevant work experience are required.
This position may require occasional travel throughout and beyond the Waco and McLennan County area.
What You Will Do
- Work with the team at the Institute for Oral History to conduct oral history interview recordings, both virtually and face-to-face, employing the Principles and Best Practices outlined by the Oral History Association
- Liaise with interviewees, conduct research, process paperwork related to interviews
- Assist in processing recordings and transcripts for oral history interviews
- Work in community spaces to develop programming and promote the collection
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
