What We Are Looking For

Baylor University is seeking a Senior Director of Gift Planning to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects for planned gifts in support of Baylor University and to assist the Assistant Vice President for Gift Planning in executing the planned giving program.

A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of planned giving fundraising experience with a high level of knowledge and expertise in the areas of estate and financial planning fundamentals is required.

A Master's degree and fiveyears of planned giving fundraising experience is preferred.

*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Building trust and fostering deep donor relationships
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to donors is essential for engaging and convincing them of the value of the gift.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to secure major gifts
  • Understanding the legal aspects of charitable giving and gift annuities is vital for compliance and effective stewardship
  • Utilizing donor management databases and tracking donor data is important for developing targeted marketing strategies
  • Knowledge of financial planning and tax laws is necessary for understanding the financial implications of gifts and managing the gift acceptance process

What You Will Do
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a personal portfolio of prospective donors, demonstrating expertise in planned giving
  • Collaborate with and assist the Directors of Development to plan, coordinate, and implement strategies to secure planned and blended gifts
  • Actively network within the fundraising, gift planning, and allied professionals' communities
  • Collaborate with AVP to plan and implement specialized training for staff, donors, volunteers, and external constituents
  • Collaborate with AVP to design and implement stewardship strategies for Old Main Society members
  • Maintain current knowledge of gift planning methods
  • Collaborate with AVP to plan and implement a planned giving marketing plan, including newsletters, direct-mail pieces, website, and e-communications
  • With the AVP, establish yearly measurable goals/objectives, related metrics for new gift commitments secured, proposals made, new prospects qualified, and prospect meetings held
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
