Job Description Summary
WXPN is seeking a Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator to execute audience engagement initiatives through the oversight of volunteer and student staffing, strategic event marketing support, and community-based outreach. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this position plays a central role in shaping WXPN's presence at station events and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure consistent, well-prepared volunteer support across key initiatives. The Coordinator acts as a frontline steward of the WXPN brand, reinforcing WXPN's brand presence through staffing, signage, and outreach materials at key events, and also administers the station's student internship and work-study program.

Job Responsibilities:
The Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing WXPN's audience engagement goals by overseeing all aspects of volunteer and student involvement. This is a fast-paced, public-facing role that involves detailed planning, consistent communication, and a strong understanding of WXPN's brand identity. The Coordinator ensures that the station shows up with excellence at multiple events per week and reinforces WXPN's visibility and values through volunteers and students, strengthening the station's connection with new and diverse audiences.
Core responsibilities include:
- Volunteer & Event Coordination (45%):
- Recruit, schedule, and oversee volunteers for all WXPN events, including weekly Free At Noon concerts, XPN Welcomes shows (3-7 per week), and large-scale station events like NON-COMMvention, the Musicians On Call 5K and XPoNential Music Festival (nearly 1,000 shifts).
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including venues, promoters, partners, and staff, to advance volunteer presence at all events using Monday.com.
- Utilize Salesforce for volunteer outreach, scheduling, and email updates and manage the volunteer database to accurately track hours, shifts, jobs, and contact information.
- Recruit new volunteers and conduct volunteer onboarding and trainings.
- Develop documentation on volunteer talking points, materials, and responsibilities.
- Represent the station in person at a minimum of two XPN Welcomes events per month.
- Draft and send volunteer communications, including monthly email newsletters, using Salesforce or Pardot.
- Marketing Strategy & Event Support (20%):
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing on the timing, implementation, and execution of marketing plans and to ensure on-site events reflect the station's voice and brand standards.
- Contribute to the development of marketing campaigns for station initiatives, incorporating print and digital media, public relations, and special events.
- Support the tracking and evaluation of marketing campaigns and events using analytics tools, providing data entry support as needed.
- Attend and work a minimum of two Welcomes events per month, setting up signage, distributing materials, and reinforcing brand identity on-site.
- Manage inventory of marketing materials and supplies needed for events, ensuring consistency of brand presence.
- Student Engagement (15%):
- Administer WXPN's internship and work-study program, including outreach, recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling.
- Serve as liaison to UPenn and other university programs and job fairs to recruit qualified, mission-aligned students.
- Track and report student involvement, collect feedback, and support the professional development of interns and student workers.
- Community Engagement & Partnerships (10%):
- Serve as a liaison to community organizations, student groups, and other stakeholders to extend WXPN's outreach into new audiences.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to deepen local impact through collaborative outreach efforts.
- Administrative Support (5%):
- Coordinate background checks for all applicable WXPN staff and volunteers.
- Attend regular marketing and operations meetings to coordinate efforts across departments.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned (5%)

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 2 to 3 years work experience with volunteer recruitment/management, community engagement, marketing, or related fields required.
- The ideal candidate is highly organized, outgoing, and detail-oriented, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work independently and have the ability to work with a wide variety of personalities.
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Google Drive) and working knowledge of databases a must. Familiarity with platforms such as Salesforce, Pardot, and Monday.com is a plus.
- Some weekend and evening work required. Knowledge of and interest in WXPN's mission and music programming strongly preferred.
- A valid driver's license and background check are required.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
