(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Supports department leader with timely and accurate reporting of Housing and Residence Life operations. In collaboration and partnership with Student Affairs, leads wellness programs and crisis management efforts to support residential student wellness and safety. Promotes student success through strategic campus partnerships and enhanced support services. Provides operational leadership to ensure consistent policy application and best practices. Oversees interventions and case management for at-risk residential students, connecting them with appropriate campus resources to support positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborates with leadership to ensure accurate annual reporting for the department
2. Provides supervision to assigned graduate student staff and oversight and support to community coordinators
3. Develops, implements, and oversees preventative self-care initiatives tailored to the needs of residential students, promoting holistic wellness
4. Creates and coordinates residential programming focused on residential student wellness
5. Contributes to student retention, transition, personal wellness, and academic success by fostering a supportive residential environment that promotes student achievement through the student success series
6. Collaborates with campus partners to create engaging, interactive learning experiences that enhance the professional development of staff and promote student success
7. Assists with administration and standardization of processes and procedures
8. Contributes expertise in student case management, crisis de-escalation, and campus-wide student support
9. Provides crisis intervention and guidance to residential students, working closely with campus partners such as dean of students, counseling services, student health, and academic support teams, etc.
10. Participates in post-incident debriefings and contributes to the ongoing evaluation and enhancement of emergency response protocols to improve student support and crisis management efforts
11. Monitors case progress, provides guidance and support to residence life staff in the implementation of action plans, conducts outreach, and connects students to necessary campus resources
12. Provides departmental support (e.g., Task Forces, committees) to operations and facilities staff in day-to-day operations and crisis response
13. Identifies trainings for residential students and professional staff, ensures alignment with best practices in student support and crisis response, and develop/deliver programs that equip residence life teams to recognize and respond to students in crisis
14. Serves in the third tier on-call rotation and respond to emergencies utilizing institutional and departmental guidelines; Helps coordinate support for students in crisis, stress, and destress
15. Collaborates with other campus departments such as Public Safety, Student Health Services, etc. in case of an emergency

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Education, Education Administration, Social Work, or related field and/or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license

Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience in Housing and Residence Life, behavioral-based intervention, Education, or a Student Affairs related area.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Proposed Salary

The budgeted salary range for this role is $51,600-$60,000 annually. Offers are based on relevant experience.

ABILITIES
Able to supervise assigned staff and/or student assistants
Able to navigate crisis management scenarios involving problem solving and critical thinking
Able to serve as a member of the Residential Care Team
Able to serves on the university's Behavioral Response Team (BRT) as requested
Acts as a representative for HRL on the Wellness@KSU and Student Success and Engagement Committee
Able to communicate with residents and resident assistants regarding the management of their residential living spaces
Able to interpret and enforce policies and procedures
Able to promote and support the department and University's strategic plan, mission, and goals
Provides third tier rotating on-call emergency assistance as live-in Residence Life staff member
Demonstrates ability to develop relationships with others and work in partnership with staff, faculty, administrators, and student leaders
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of implementing best practices related to student engagement

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Skilled in implementing community-building techniques for residential students
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
