Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for the entire workflow of purchasing and cataloging of library materials. Adheres to industry standards for cataloging, metadata and acquisitions in an academic library setting. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.
Hiring Range
Starting salary range is $20 per hour, to a maximum of $25 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Establishes, maintains and monitors all acquisitions funds and budgets; allocates appropriate funds to area selectors within the University Libraries. Oversees acquisition activities in collaboration with University Libraries administration to support timely receipt of materials and proper invoicing of all purchased items.
- Updates and catalogs new and donated materials, bibliographic records and associated online utilities to accurately reflect the University Libraries' inventory. Develops, implements and maintains records and processes relating to acquisitions for both Mortensen and Allen Music Libraries.
- Facilitates the acquisition of institutional subscriptions, hardcopy standing orders, and all other ordering for the libraries. Working with the Head of Technical Services, reviews, evaluates and prices standing orders and electronic databases in an effort to ensure competitiveness.
- Assists in developing and maintaining University Libraries' policies and procedures in compliance with industry best practices. Actively participates in and/or oversees project-based initiatives in support of the overall library function. Assists in the training and oversight of student library assistants in the processing of materials.
- Serves as a member of the Collection Development Committee; collaborates on adjusting and allotting material budgets based on need and availability, demonstrating prudent fiscal management at all times. Reports on expenditures as necessary and/or deemed appropriate.
- Reviews and recommends improvements and upgrades to pertinent workflows within the integrated library system. May serve as a subject selector.
- Represents the University Libraries on various internal and external committees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelors Degree Required; MLIS or Masters degree preferred
