Description

The Assistant/Associate Director of Athletics for Operations, Events & Championships is an integral member of the athletics senior staff. This position will provide leadership for the facilities, operations and events staff on a day-to-day basis in addition to oversight of game operations and outside events for the College of the Holy Cross' Division I intercollegiate athletics program. The successful candidate will ensure communication and coordination in scheduling facilities and events with coaches, athletic department staff, other campus staff, and external user groups in addition to compliance with all federal, NCAA, league, college and state regulations as they relate to athletics facilities. This position will also create and manage departmental resources in a fiscally responsible manner and maintain applicable policies and procedures for the use and rental of all athletics facilities and outside events. The successful candidate will oversee three full-time staff members, including the Associate Director of Facilities and Arena Operations, as well as both Assistant Directors of Facilities and Operations, to ensure the proper function of all athletic events, practices, contests, outside rentals, and general function with direct reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics. Sport oversight responsibilities will be determined based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Provide oversight and leadership for facilities, operations and events full-time staff, part-time staff and student employees
  • Oversee and maintain proper scheduling and operations of all athletic games and practices, special events and facility rentals for the Department of Athletics.
  • Attain proper certifications for specialized facility and equipment operations
  • Develop and maintain departmental facilities policies and procedures manuals and visiting team guides for each athletic facility
  • Work with varsity coaches, athletic department staff, and campus personnel to schedule and allocate facilities time usage for all athletics teams, departmental needs and approved campus events
  • Determine availability and manage the scheduling and use by third party groups of athletics facilities for revenue generation as appropriate (outside rentals)
  • Support proper function of sport clinic scheduling and execution
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, NCAA, league, College and state regulations as they relate to athletics facilities and individual user groups
  • Oversight and execution of conference and NCAA championship events hosted by Holy Cross, including management of bid process as necessary.
  • Lead interactions campus constituencies, including but not limited to Public Safety, Grounds and Facilities. As such, this position must be able to diplomatically and effectively communicate and interface with other campus entities to meet athletic department goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required with a minimum of three years of leadership experience in intercollegiate athletics is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of athletic facilities management, including ice rink and pool operations
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently, effectively and independently
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to multi-task, detail oriented and ability to work with diverse group of staff members
  • Strong customer service with the ability to troubleshoot and handle pressure situations
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse, fast-paced student-athlete service driven environment
  • Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in related field; Previous Division I intercollegiate athletic experience in event and facility management

Additional Information:This is a full time exempt level position. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees. The salary range for the Assistant level position ranges from $70,000-$75,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
