PS Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) chosen for this position will provide care to our patients primarily in our Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) clinic focusing on leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. This dynamic and challenging position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills. The NP will work with a high level of autonomy as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team to provide care to patients with complex hematologic malignancies who often also possess a wide range of comorbidities.
The Huntsman Cancer Institute is an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and is part of the University of Utah Health Care system, serving cancer patients throughout the Intermountain West. Responsibilities
The essential functions of this position include (but are not limited to): Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests Initiate or recommend pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies within scope of practice Provide patient and family education Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care initiatives Participation in quality, patient experience and efficiency improvement activities Meets with patients, families and significant others about health and illness, with the goal of promoting ongoing health maintenance Evaluates, plans, implements and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures Actively supports of Division and Program initiatives and goals Works with Director of Advanced Practice and BMT Medical Director to formulate a plan for professional development

Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
