Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a

College Navigator - Spanish Bilingual
position. This is a part-time classified, non-union, non-exempt, non benefits-eligible, and limited term position ending on June 30th, 2026. PURPOSE OF POSITION:


  • Provides direct service and support to transitioning ESOL, GED, Adult HS Diploma, and Spanish-GED students seeking to get started with College programs at CCC.

  • Using a case management model, this person provides information, tools, and support to students with completing the getting-started steps (e.g., placement, registration, financial aid, etc.) required to enroll at CCC.

  • Uses all available tools, including meetings, phone, email, etc., to connect and build rapport with students.

  • Assists Adult Basic Skills (ABS) students with exploring CCC programs as it relates to their skills, interest, and abilities.

  • Help students develop a focused educational and financial plan to ensure they are prepared as they matriculate into College coursework.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Proactively reach out to and follow up with identified students, using best practices in a case management approach.
  • Provide information and guidance for identified students on getting started at CCC, including applying for admission, career planning, program selection, completing financial aid and scholarship applications, online orientation, and placement.
  • Connect students with community resources to help create individualized financial plans that support their educational goals.
  • Maintain regular contact with students through the onboarding stages and through the first term to support belonging and term-to-term retention.
  • Utilize technology and software, including Colleague, Navigate, CRM, Outlook, etc. to accomplish job functions, including accurate data entry, student record maintenance, student communication, and reports.
  • Refer students to appropriate resources for issues related to services required outside the scope of the position, such as mental health, housing, and food assistance.
  • Develop content, materials, presentations, and workshops to promote educational resources with students, including financial literacy, myClackamas portal, navigate student success app, Self-Service tools for registration and academic success topics.
  • Generate correspondence, reports, forms, tables, and presentations.
  • Work with individuals who may be frustrated or dissatisfied in a productive and respectful manner, with the goal of de-escalating issues and resolving identified concerns.
  • Accurately disseminate detailed information in small and large groups through excellent written and verbal communications, both in English and Spanish.
  • Conduct student needs analysis, make professional judgment decisions regarding policies and procedures, and identify barriers and facilitate problem resolution with students and staff as appropriate.
  • Serve as a resource for students from diverse and underserved backgrounds to assist with and advocate for the removal of institutional barriers that impact academic and professional success with sensitivity and awareness.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with staff and faculty and participate in committees, professional and college trainings, staff meetings, and related professional activities as appropriate and/or requested.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and follow state and federal requirements, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working in a higher education setting with diverse and underserved populations.
  • Great interpersonal skills, including successful collaboration, customer service, public speaking, event management, and program development skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to disseminate complex information to small and large groups with proper mechanics in English and Spanish language.
  • Strong experience with word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, internet, and e-mail applications.
  • Bilingual Spanish with experience presenting information to small and large groups in this language.
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in education, psychology, social work, sociology, business, public administration, or related field AND three years' relevant experience, OR any satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above duties.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES:

  • Valid Driver's License in the State of Oregon.
  • The person in this role may work with minors, and employment will be contingent on passing a state/federal background check.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with enrollment and admissions processes and/or advising and career services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with English language learners.
  • Knowledge of FERPA requirements.
  • Experience working with veteran and/or first-generation college students.
  • Master's degree in Education, Student Affairs, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
