Job Summary:
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Custodian 4 - Float Schedule

The salary for this position is $$45,912 (minimum) up to $61,356. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. Required Qualifications:
* One to two years experience supervising or directing others in large-scale housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance or custodial work.
* Valid drivers license
* Minimum age of 18.
* Physical ability to do the job.
* Previous cleaning or custodial experience
* Must be able to work different shifts and days
* Must be able to read, write and understand written documents
* Basic Microsoft Office experience including Word, Excel and experience using an email system
* Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity

Specific Position Requirements
* High School Diploma or GED
* Must have prior cleaning or custodial experience.
* Must be able to work different shifts and days.
* Must be able to read, write and understand written documents.
* Must have basic Microsoft Office experience including Word, Excel, and experience using an email system.
* Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:
2 Years Custodial/Lead Custodial experience

Job Duties:
Assign and schedule work:
-Determine staffing needs for building activities, such as special events and camps as well as regular needs
-Arrange staff when illnesses and vacations arise

Maintain and establish custodial standards of cleanliness by inspection of assigned areas of responsibilities:
-Oversee maintenance of equipment
-Inspection of assigned areas and supplies
-Conduct unit meetings
-Key inspections
-Pick up and return broken and repaired equipment
-Assist in maintaining budget control for labor and materials:
-Organize and distribute overtime according to union contract
-Assess budget needs for the year
-Prorate equipment and supplies to come in on budget allotted for each quarter
-Assess student labor to meet needs and budget for each quarter
-Order linenPercent of Time: 20

Conduct training:
-Develop and implement training programs, i.e. chemical safety, MSDS sheets, equipment care and general work related subjects.
-Conduct classes and seminars.
-May make training videos
-Bloodborne pathogens classesPercent of Time: 10

Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and machinery:
-Write specifications
-Write justifications
-Gather estimates
-Evaluate products
-Make recommendations
-Train personnel in proper use and carePercent of Time: 5

Coordinate provision of Custodial Services with other departments:
-Attend meetings with various department heads and special event coordinators
-Coordinate work requests from other departments with time available as well as staff
-Coordinate outside activities and events with personnel, supplies and time frames
-Collaborate with union on various personnel issuesPercent of Time: 5

Prepare a variety of reports such as analysis of custodial workloads, service requirements and employee job performance:
-Conduct employee evaluations
-Write inter-departmental purchase orders
-Write purchase orders
-Written reports
-Accident/incident reports
-Budget reports
-Track expenditures
-Maintain vendor files
-Submit work orders
-Submit service order requests
-Prepare and distribute departmental memos and letters
-Perform related duties as required:
-Inventory control
-On call 24 hours

Conditions of Employment:
* Successful candidate must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on frequent basis and carry up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis. Successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-placement physical.
Conditions of employment:

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

All new employees must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.

This position is covered by the Washington Federation of State Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement:
After starting employment, employees will complete the required training via Canvas. Workplace Belonging training will be available on December 1st and should be completed by March 31st, 2026.

Salary Information:
