(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Provides advanced hands-on technical services and practical application guidance to students and faculty in a research and/or student success setting. Supports the instructional and research mission of the college by maintaining material aspects of the laboratories and specialized equipment in various advanced technology laboratories and shops.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains and repairs lab equipment, including higher level research equipment, and maintains associated records
2. Prepares lab equipment for lab-based and lab-related courses and purchases parts and/or components for machines and/or equipment
3. Prepares and oversees the correct operation of research lab equipment
4. Trains faculty, staff, and students in proper usage and maintenance of equipment
5. Assists students and faculty with advanced fabrication of components, lab projects, student projects, test specimens, research parts, etc.
6. Provides guidance regarding safe equipment operation and implementation of laboratory procedures
7. Prepares and maintains training documentation for end users
8. Responsible for ensuring students receive proper training and follow best safe practices in accordance with appropriate standards and regulations
9. Provides support to the college with maintenance by fabricating and repairing university equipment, including advanced research equipment
10. Provides advanced support to the assigned college by performing department-related tasks (i.e., equipment set up, material handling and distribution)
11. Procures equipment, components, and materials needed for fabrication, assembly, and/or repair of laboratory systems
12. Manages and ensures appropriate inventory levels of parts, supplies, and/or equipment needed
13. Develops and ensures the use of set guidelines and practices for general laboratory organization and cleanliness, and shop guides for student use
14. Assists in the oversight and training of assigned staff and/or student assistants responsible for the execution of projects related to lab organization, operations systematic inspection, detection, and correction of incipient failures of mechanical and electrical equipment, including advanced research equipment

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Associate's, technical, vocational, or related degree and/or certificate from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license

Required Experience
Three (3) years directly relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certificate in an engineering technology field
SolidWorks CSWA Certification
Safety Certification

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience
Previous experience working with customers and/or in higher education
Previous experience working with robotic arms and CNC equipment
Previous related industrial experience

Proposed Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb;}tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6;}tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5;}27.91/hr. ABILITIES
Able to use woodworking machinery and a range of hand tools
Completes training courses to maintain knowledge and skill with changing technology for fabrication, maintenance, and assembly
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of appropriate safety standards
Extensive knowledge of basic programming and equipment, related to the assigned area
Extensive knowledge of materials and proper specifications for components, related to the assigned area

SKILLS
Demonstrated consistency using excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and strong presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the department (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, CAD/CAM software)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
