The Maxwell Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow to study early detection and early cancer development in patients with inherited risk to cancer. In collaboration with other investigators within the Basser Center for BRCA at Penn Medicine, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, St Jude's Children's Hospital and Ontario institute for Cancer Research, we are studying early cancer detection and initiation in individuals with inherited mutations in TP53 and BRCA1/2. The postdoctoral fellow, along with graduate students, research technicians and clinical research coordinators in the lab, will lead projects studying the clinical utility of multi-modal cancer early detection tests and early cancer development in these patients. Dr. Kara Maxwell Is the Director of the Basser Center for BRCA Men and BRCA Program and has a clinical practice caring for patients with cancer predisposition syndromes. The laboratory has established both the Li Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS) and Men & BRCA Biobanks containing extensive clinical information and biospecimens from these patients which are utilized for our experiments.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants should have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, MD or equivalent) and have a strong background in genomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics. A background in mouse genetics and mouse models of cancer is preferred but not required.
