The Aquetza Program at CU Boulder is hiring 3 Co-Directors for the 2026 Aquetza Youth Leadership Program! The Aquetza Co-Director role is one of the most rewarding and fast paced positions within the program. It requires a high level of dedication, organization, presence and relationship building skills. Co-Directors spend the majority of each day supervising the execution of programming and supporting program staff. The Co-Directors serve as advocates between university and program staff, ensuring the alignment with university procedures and crafting an impactful, robust program for youth participants. The Co-Directors are expected to live-in, and be on-call for the duration of the program.

Who We Are
The Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement, partners with communities across Colorado and beyond to provide first-generation students and their families with comprehensive college preparation and social development programming.
Aquetza is designed to engage students in examining and exploring connections across the fields of history, literature, health, and environmental science. The program provides opportunities for students to develop academic skills, apply critical thinking, and understand how community assets and personal strengths can be used to give constructively to their schools and communities.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Building and sustaining substantial relationships with students throughout the program. This requires trust, respect, and accountability.
- Facilitate daily workshops that develop space for reflection, dialogue, and community building, while also maintaining responsibility for student safety and well-being.
- Supervise and support staff members throughout daily programming.
- Collaborate closely with fellow staff members to ensure a collaborative program experience, clear communication, and a supportive environment for all participants.
- Oversee staff dynamics and support their professional growth and skills.
- Lead staff meetings and address concerns with program staff.
- Model appropriate boundaries and expectations with all program youth.
- Address conflict with care and consideration.
- Ensure staff follows all university youth safety processes and reports any safety concerns.
- Respond quickly and efficiently in emergency scenarios.
- Follow university guidelines to report any staff or student misconduct.
- Maintain active communication with Aquetza staff and students.
- Develop and lead all staff training.
What You Should Know
- The 2026 Aquetza Youth Leadership Program for 9th-11th graders will run June 19th to June 28th. Staff Training will be June 18th-19th. You must be available to work the entirety of the program week and staff training days.
- Co-Directors work shifts between the hours of 8am-11pm and must be on call during the evening. You must be available to work 10-25 hours during the program week; All summer staff positions are expected to work the hours agreed upon over the 11-day program and attend daily staff meetings. This amounts to 5 hours per day for 11 days; 55 hours total.
- Must pass a university background check if hired.
What We Can Offer
The hourly rate for this full-time, temporary position is $18.90 - $25.00.
Benefits
Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require
- 3 years of previous involvement in the Aquetza Youth Leadership Program.
- Experience as a counselor and instructor, or on the Aquetza Cemaxcatl.
What You Will Need
- Phenomenal teammate.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Leadership skills.
