Salary for Announcement: The salary range is $45,300 $63,850. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. Position Summary:
The Advocacy, Outreach, and Training Coordinator will seek, foster, and strengthen relationships with MSU Denver staff, faculty, partners, and the international student community, both state and national. Through advocacy efforts, the position will promote and further equity by integrating strategies that address identified social and financial needs and disparities by creating partnerships. This position requires strong interpersonal skills to make connections and build relationships. It will also provide outreach and training to other departments as needed. An advocate speaks up for our F-1 international student population and is a champion for the Registrar's Office. This role is expected to provide a high level of customer service and professionalism. This position may require occasional weekend and evening work.

Duties/Responsibilities:
30% Advocacy and Outreach
Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO)
Expand the ability to sustain collaborative work and advocacy for Registrars Office
Participate in coalitions, workgroups, and taskforces within the campus, state, and national communities
Initiate collaborative opportunities and facilitate meetings to promote the value of each student
Facilitate and grow partnerships through coalition-building on and off-campus
Represent MSU Denver at community events
Provide public awareness, education, and support to communities
Outreach and advocacy with the legislative community
Educate campus partners on laws, limitations, regulations, etc.
Responds to requests for legislative updates and guides how to communicate priorities to congressional offices
30% Training
Provide training to MSU Denver staff and faculty on processes managed by the Records and Registration team, including administrative withdrawal, inter-institutional registration, audit, pass/fail, etc.
Develop and establish training and/or workshop schedule to provide ongoing workshops for faculty and staff
30% Project Management and Programming
Assess student experiences and track retention and graduation rates to evaluate programs, policies, and procedures and recommend solutions to gaps in quality services
Participate in gathering data to assess increased or additional service needs, community resources, etc.
Develop workshops on various policies and processes managed by the Office of the Registrar
Assess and track processes administered by the Records and Registration team and identify process improvement opportunities
Develop and implement programs that promote international students attachment to and identity as students of MSU Denver
10% Customer Service
Must be professional, respectful, and maintain a high level of customer service at all times
Support other individuals on the Records and Registration team and the Registrars Office, including student employees. This requires assisting with inquiries at the front counter, answering phones, and responding to emails promptly
Eager to cross-train and collaborate with others
Willing to work under pressure and handle difficult situations in a professional manner


Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience (2 years of experience is equal to 1 year of education)
2. One-year experience working with the international student population
3. One-year experience working in higher education
4. Experience working with immigration laws, processes, and procedures in a professional setting
5. U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent resident of the United States, as required by federal law to serve as DSO

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ability to speak before groups effectively, show emotional maturity, good judgment, and tact; integrity, tolerance of differing points of view and beliefs
2. Experience developing partnerships and collaborations
3. Superior presentation, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
4. Experience serving as Principle Designated School Official (PSDO) or DSO
5. Experience working with data and establishing data integrity
6. Experience conducting data assessment to inform decisions and program improvement
7. Fluent in one or more languages other than English
