Depending on area of research, may prepare media, samples, solutions, specimens, and/or reagents. Perform testing and monitoring. Gather and record research data. Keep detailed logs of experiments. Maintain and stock supplies.
The Rowley lab is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician to join a research group focused on the formation and function of blood cells (www.plateletlab.com). Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a related field and have at least one year prior laboratory experience in an academic or industry research setting.
Responsibilities may include performing a range of cell and molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning, PCR and genotyping, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and transfections, lentiviral production, immunoprecipitation, Western blot analysis, cell culture, primary human and mouse cells isolations. The role may also involve working with laboratory mice, including blood collection, injections, preparation for surgical procedures, and post-operative monitoring and care. In addition, the technician may help maintain laboratory organization and compliance by cleaning and disinfecting laboratory and cleanroom spaces, maintaining equipment, assisting with inventory management, and receiving, inspecting, ordering, and stocking laboratory supplies.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative and dynamic research environment dedicated to advancing understanding of blood cell biology and platelet function, with opportunities for technical skill development and meaningful scientific contribution.
Preferred:
Expertise in one or more of the following techniques is preferred: molecular cloning, immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, mammalian cell culture, lentiviral production, AAV production, flow cytometry, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, or mouse handling.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Research Technician, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Research Technician, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
Research Technician, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.
