Salary Range: $ 64,000 - $68,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

This is a full-time, 12-month assistant teaching professor position in the Department of Nursing. This position involves teaching skills labs in our undergraduate nursing program with responsibilities for coordination of the static lab. Static lab responsibilities include monitoring lab
equipment and supplies to maintain inventory for lab use, coordinate and maintain schedule of all lab activities, as well as anticipating preventive maintenance needs of equipment and recommending new purchases as appropriate. The Static Lab coordinator processes purchase orders for lab equipment and supplies and serves as the supervisor for student workers assigned to the lab. The position also includes laboratory and clinical teaching in the undergraduate nursing program.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Confers with faculty to determine static lab needs in anticipation of each semester.
  • Collaborates with faculty to develop and maintain laboratory set-ups, supplies, and configurations that support course learning objectives.
  • Selects and schedules student learning experiences in achieving desired learning outcomes.
  • Develops and implements policies related to faculty and student use of the static lab.
  • Maintains a schedule of static lab activities.
  • Confers with faculty to determine static lab needs in anticipation of each semester and works with all parties to manage the schedule in advance.
  • Collaborates with other departments and partners that utilize Static Lab to ensure accurate scheduling and set up of laboratory spaces as needed.
  • Ensures that the labs are set up and ready for scheduled lab activities.
  • Monitors lab equipment and processes any requests for maintenance.
  • Hire and supervise student workers to ensure adequate coverage and availability to assist with preparation of labs.
  • Monitors lab supply inventory and plans for purchasing in anticipation of needs each semester.
  • Completes cost comparisons from available vendors to determine the most efficient purchasing.
  • Prepare quotes and justifications from available vendors to determine the most efficient purchasing.
  • Prepares quotes and justifications for any new lab purchases.
  • Maintains inventory checklists so quantities of disposable supplies and durable equipment can be tracked.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance for durable equipment and coordinate maintenance with third party vendors.
  • Coordinates the safe disposal of any biohazard materials.
  • Confers with Simulation Learning Center director and staff as needed.
  • Coordinates the procedure for receiving and monitoring any donations to the lab from outside agencies.
  • Provides any updates to faculty on new equipment or purchases.
  • Teaches undergraduate students in laboratory and clinical settings.
  • Engages in various service activities within the College, UCCS, and profession of nursing, and the community.
  • Maintains clinical and academic expertise.
  • Plans, develops, and implements evaluation tools to assess student progress.
  • Participate in curriculum development.
  • Participates in meetings and other activities that advance the mission and goals of the College.
  • Other duties as determined by the Dean and Department Chair.

Qualifications
  • Must have a Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Must be able to maintain an active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.
  • Must have experience with supervision, scheduling, and calendar management.
  • Previous teaching experience in an undergraduate nursing program is preferred.
  • Previous experience with scheduling, purchase ordering, and equipment maintenance is preferred.
  • Previous experience with curriculum development and evaluation is preferred.
  • Advanced practice certification related to clinical specialty area is preferred.
