The Office of Admissions at CU Boulder invites applications for an Assistant Director of Admission! This position provides the opportunity to be a key member of the First-Year Recruitment team as well as advance the goals and mission of our fast-paced and growing Application Review division. Successful candidates will be responsible for representing the University of Colorado Boulder to various constituents, including prospective students, family members, high school counselors, and internal and external campus partners. They will implement a wide range of off-campus recruitment activities including high school visits, college fairs, receptions and individual meetings. Additionally, the role will have direct engagement in planning and implementing the annual application review cycle.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Build a recruitment schedule and strategy based on specific, targeted high schools throughout an assigned regional territory.
  • Represent CU Boulder to a broad range of constituents at college fairs, community college visits, large-scale receptions, and other recruitment activities in the region.
  • Regularly pull and analyze historical data to inform recruitment strategy.
  • Conduct admission presentations to various populations.
  • Advise and counsel prospects, applicants, and students on university admissions policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with constituents in the university, high school, other institutions of higher education, government agencies, community-based organizations, and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder.
  • Partner with the Associate Director of Application Review to ensure as efficient and equitable a review process as possible for all applicants, across first-year, transfer, and international populations.
  • Duties could include being the primary reader of a special population of applicants; assisting with the training and support of the seasonal review team; reviewing referred files; creating and implementing quality control measures; engaging in all parts of the review and decision release process; taking part in overarching strategy discussions alongside senior admissions and university leadership; representing the process to external constituents.
  • Participate in admission-related programs and activities, such as campus visitation programs and new student orientation activities.
  • As appropriate, manage, train, supervise, and evaluate support staff, including temporary staff/seasonal readers.
  • Participate in all staff development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What You Should Know

  • This position is expected to work in a hybrid format working in the office 2 days per week.
  • Extensive overnight trips and evening/weekend work are required.


What We Can Offer


  • The annual hiring range for this full-time position is $63,000 - $65,000.

What We Require

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum three years of progressively more responsible experience in higher education or admissions.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

  • Due to the nature of the position, there will be non-traditional hours on select evenings and weekends, as well as travel throughout Colorado and outside the state.
