Job Summary
The Ticket Office Assistant will use ticketing systems, including but not limited to Paciolan and Ticketmaster, to perform a variety of ticket office, event operations, and customer service functions. Responsibilities will vary based on the needs of each event and may include ticket sales, customer service, event-day operations, will call, ticket scanning, and other ticket-related duties. The Ticket Office Assistant will support the ticketing operations of concerts, large-scale special events, and University of Utah athletic events. Events will primarily be held on the University of Utah campus, including at Rice-Eccles Stadium and the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Responsibilities
- Utilize ticketing systems, including but not limited to Paciolan and Ticketmaster, to process ticket orders, sales, transfers, exchanges, refunds, invoices, electronic payments, and other ticketing transactions as assigned.
- Provide professional, timely, and welcoming customer service to students, staff, faculty, patrons, event personnel, and visitors. Assist customers with ticket purchases, account questions, event information, seating, accessibility needs, and other ticket-related questions or issues.
- Perform general ticket office and clerical duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, data entry, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with other administrative tasks.
- Assist with event-day ticketing operations for concerts, University of Utah athletic events, and large-scale special events. Duties may include ticket sales, will call, ticket scanning, customer service, troubleshooting ticket issues, ticket distribution, mobile ticket assistance, and other event-day responsibilities as assigned.
- Process electronic and credit card payments in accordance with University, department, venue, and ticket office policies and procedures. Follow all applicable PCI compliance requirements, including properly handling, processing, protecting, and safeguarding customer payment card information.
- Follow applicable Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, University policies, and department procedures related to accessible ticketing, seating, and customer accommodations. Provide appropriate assistance to customers with accessibility needs and escalate questions or requests when necessary.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of department and University policies and procedures to appropriately assist students, staff, faculty, patrons, event personnel, and visitors.
- Work collaboratively with ticket office staff, event personnel, University departments, promoters, and other event partners to support successful event operations and provide consistent customer experience.
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriately safeguard customer, ticketing, payment, and other sensitive information.
- Operate ticketing equipment, computers, scanners, printers, and other event-related technology as required. Troubleshoot basic technical or ticketing issues and escalate more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
One year customer service or related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills; and basic computer skills required.

Preferences
- Customer service or related experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and event personnel. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and utilize ticketing systems and other event-related technology required. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment and adapt to changing events and operational needs.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule based on event timelines and operational needs. This position may require long shifts and work during evenings, weekends, holidays, early mornings, late nights, and other variable timeframes.
- At least one year of ticketing, customer service, event operations, or related experience, preferably supporting large-scale events.
- Previous experience with Paciolan, Ticketmaster, or similar ticketing platforms preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment preferred.
- Experience working in live entertainment, collegiate athletics, concerts, or other large-scale event environments preferred.
- Familiarity with mobile ticketing, ticket scanning, point-of-sale systems, or other event technology preferred.
