Job Description:
Madison College has responded to community needs by expanding childcare services to our new Early Learning Center at Goodman South Branch Campus. We are seeking Child Care & Development Float Teacher to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a program built from the ground up and shaped by best practices in early education.
This position supports early childhood education by creating a safe, nurturing classroom environment, implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences, and ensuring the well-being of children.
The Child Care & Development Float Teacher will co-teach in assigned classrooms, foster individual child development, and promote positive socialization among peers. Also, contributes to institutional goals by supporting early learning, enhancing child engagement, and maintaining a high-quality childcare education program.
Position Details:
Schedule: This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position, scheduled within the operational hours of 6:45am - 5:00pm. Teachers could start as early as 6:30am and end as late as 5:15pm. Please note that operational hours and staff schedules are expected to change as the center expands, and enrollment grows.

Accountabilities:
- Implements developmentally appropriate lessons and co-teaching in classrooms for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in the college's childcare center to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Supports child development and socialization by facilitating learning experiences that align with the center's educational philosophy, considering age, group size, composition, daily schedule and transitions to personalize education to the needs of the children.
- Supports individualized child development by addressing cultural, socio-economic, emotional and physical needs to adapt teaching methods to each child's learning style and pace.
- Maintains health and safety standards, completes routine classroom cleaning and follows sanitation protocols for food preparation, toys and bedding to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Build positive partnerships with parents by exchanging information through informal conversations to support children's development both at home and in the classroom.
- Contributes to an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment where everyone at the institution feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.
- Adheres to college policies, directives and work rules while maintaining a commitment to the college's mission, vision and values.
- Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities?
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development theories.
- Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation regulations related to early childhood environments.
- Skill in assessing child development, documenting progress and using observations to inform lesson planning and parent communication.
- Skill in applying consistent implementation of child guidance techniques.
- Ability to create and maintain a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Early Childhood Education Technical Diploma, OR 12 early childhood/child development related credits, OR WI Early Childhood Registry Certificate Level 8 or higher
Experience:
- One (1) year work experience teaching young children in a licensed and accredited early childhood education setting.
- CPR/1st Aid Certifications or ability to obtain within three (3) months of employment.
- Prior to Hire: Satisfactory status in the DCF/DOJ fingerprint background check prior to hire and every 5yrs as well as annual DOJ name-based background checks
- Upon Hire: Satisfactory completion of DCF physical exam.
