California State University, Dominguez Hills, was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University system. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of over 12,500 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. The University, with its five Academic Colleges, has more than 300 full-time faculty members and is situated in an area characterized by an extraordinary heterogeneity of people, and an extensive array of high technology industries and professional services.

Position Information:
This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Department: Provost's Office / Academic Affairs

The Office of the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for planning, budgeting, resource allocation and expenditure control for all instructional and academic support areas of the University as well as all academic programs and faculty and their management. Areas of responsibility include the undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs; library and media services; research and grant activities; faculty governance; faculty personnel records, retention, tenure and promotion processes; accreditation, faculty development, course scheduling, course data base, curriculum register, and catalog; liaison with many on and off campus groups, organizations and governmental units.

Major Job Duties:
Under general supervision of the Executive Assistant to the Provost the Administrative Support Coordinator provides day-to-day administrative support for the Provost's Office. The Administrative Support Coordinator receives telephone calls, greets visitors and makes appropriate referrals for action to the appropriate individual and/or area. The Administrative Support Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of various office functions and special events.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
Thorough knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling and punctuation;
Thorough knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, methods, and records management;
Knowledge of proper customer service-oriented techniques;
Knowledge of standard computerized office systems and equipment;

Ability to:
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, including tracking and comparing data;
Ability to coordinate many different tasks;
Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and handle sensitive and confidential situations;
Ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages;

Skill in:
Skill in planning, organizing, coordinating and performing work in routine situations;
Fluency in using standard software applications;
Skill in performing general clerical functions.
Experience and Education:

Required Education:
High school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents.

Required Experience:
Several years of related office work experience, equivalent to three years.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this classification is: $2,846 - $4,998 monthly.
