FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The English Department at LaGuardia Community College is seeking highly motivated and innovative candidates to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with a specialization in journalism.

The Assistant professor will teach courses in journalism, developmental writing, college composition, and literature; provide academic advisement of students; actively participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives, including curriculum development and professional development activities; be engaged in scholarly activities, including publications and conference participation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree or Ph.D in Journalism required. Significant professional experience in print journalism in a reputable media organization and related professional activity required. Experience with digital journalism and reporting in diverse communities is desirable. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated professional achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Candidates should have experience in teaching an urban student population including ESL and immigrant students. Knowledge of current composition theory and new educational technology; familiarity with student-centered learning, learning communities, and innovative approaches to teaching writing and literature preferred.
