Job Summary
The Retention and Success Coordinator entails active engagement with nursing students, offering guidance, support, and resources to enhance retention and program completion rates. Additionally, it involves early identification of nursing students who may express an interest in transitioning to other health professions programs within the college. The responsibilities include designing and implementing comprehensive support activities for students at risk of attrition. The incumbent will collaborate with nursing students in areas encompassing professionalism, didactic coursework, laboratory skills, and clinical performance. Furthermore, they will liaise with School leadership, faculty, and various departments, such as Career Services and Admissions, to foster retention and address potential retention challenges.
Responsibilities
- Identifies at risk students early in their matriculation
- Implements strategies to support students including but not limited to individual and group tutoring, instruction on study and test taking skills, time management and work / life balance
- Create and implement workshops, seminars, and resources to enhance students' study skills, time management, and academic performance
- Mentors students throughout their program of study and tailor services available to meet the program and students' needs
- Collaborate with campus resources such as counseling services, tutoring centers, career services and services to help overcome social and/or economic barriers to ensure a holistic support system for students
- Collaborates with the School of Nursing in ensuring programmatic accreditation standards are met regarding student success
- Partners with the School chair and Program Directors to track progression of students with relevant metrics
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate academic success plans to include remediation
- Participate in the collection and analysis of program assessment data to contribute to quality improvement
- Maintain accurate and updated records of student interactions and progress
- Continuously stay current of the best practices in student success and retention to continuously improve coaching strategies
- Participates in nursing program committees and provides input into program development, implementation, revision, and evaluation
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Master's degree
Required Experience
- Previous experience in nursing education, academic support, or student development
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Master's Degree in nursing, education, counseling, psychology, or a related field
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of nursing curriculum and student academic success and retention strategies
- Formal training in learning strategies, academic coaching, or retention initiatives
Proposed Salary
$33.65 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
