Colorado Law is hiring for a Legal Clinic Office Manager! This department is dedicated to providing free legal representation to low-income Coloradans through its esteemed Clinical Program. Our program, guided by experienced law faculty, empowers law students to represent clients in real cases and projects. This hands-on experience is pivotal for students as it facilitates the transition from legal theory to practice.

This position plays a pivotal role in supporting licensed attorneys, clinical faculty, and law student attorneys in delivering high-quality legal services to our valued clients. With a focus on law practice management, office administration, and financial oversight, the office manager is integral to the efficient functioning of the clinic.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be


Law Clinic Office Management:
  • Collaborate with the Clinic Director to monitor, develop, and implement law practice management procedures for Clinic personnel.
  • Supervise the Clinic's use of cloud-based law practice management software to ensure efficiency and effective utilization.
  • Create and implement protocols for filing documents with courts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to student attorneys on legal protocols specific to their client or project work.
  • Perform various administrative duties, such as supervising student registration, maintaining office equipment, and providing referrals for the public.
  • Supervise work-study students responsible for clerical support in the Clinic Law Office.
  • Manage and update law practice management protocols for clients.
  • Screen for conflicts related to new clients.
  • Maintain and manage confidential materials for clients.

Financial Oversight:
  • Oversee financial matters concerning the Clinic and clinical faculty.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to create and monitor the annual budget for the Clinical Program.
  • Process payments and reimbursements through Concur and Marketplace systems.
  • Manage financial records related to Clinical funding, tracking and reporting on various gift and endowment funds.
  • Ensure timely execution of financial duties to meet required timelines and coordinate general office administration, including monitoring services, supplies, and appropriate use of the Clinical office suite.
  • Maintain and track attorney time-keeping with outside-agencies. Submit invoices to agencies and collect payments.

Legal Document Preparation and Review:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of legal documents to ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
  • Assist students with the preparation of court documents in collaboration with clinical faculty, following their direction, and undergoing their review.
  • File management and coordination of all legal documents.


What You Should Know


This full-time position has the ability to work in a hybrid work modality, and has an anticipated work schedule of Monday - Friday during regular business hours.


What We Can Offer

  • The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on qualifications. Onboarding assistance is available within department guidelines.

What We Require

  • Paralegal certificate obtained through either an American Bar Association (ABA) approved paralegal studies program or an accredited institution, or experience working as a licensed attorney can substitute for the certification.
  • Two years of paralegal experience, involving legal research, drafting legal documents, and adherence to law office management protocols. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • Proficient in state and federal court procedures, including e-filing, and knowledgeable about court filings, briefings, and documentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with the Professional Rules of Responsibility.
  • Strong ability to work independently and seamlessly move between tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to support and mentor law students.
  • Capability to collaborate with multiple faculty members simultaneously.
  • Desire to work with community members from a diverse set of backgrounds and life experiences.
