Job Summary

Under the direction of the kitchen lead the Assistant Cook will help to prepare, cook, serve, and clean-up meals for guest visiting or staying at the Mountain Research Station. This position often only works with the kitchen lead to perform all kitchen activities so willingness to participate in the full process from start to final clean-up is essential to success. Who We Are

Located at 9500 feet in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies in Nederland, the Mountain Research Station is an interdisciplinary facility of the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (University of Colorado) providing research and educational opportunities for scientists, students, and the general public. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Prepare, cook, serve, and clean-up of meals. All meals are scheduled and serve 20-50 people. The ability to work at a fast pace to meet serving time windows is crucial to success.

What You Should Know

This position will last June-Sept 2026, with approximately 20-30 hrs from June 2-Aug 20.
Core hours are Monday-Friday 5:30 am-10:00 am, with the possibility of some Saturday hours; flexibility required. Actual hours will depend on guest numbers and dates and will vary throughout the summer.

What We Can Offer

The pay rate for this position is $25.00/hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

6 months of experience in a food preparation / cook position.
