Job Summary

Maintenance Mechanics
Perform maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of equipment and machinery. Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair issues. Work with mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems. Ensure proper wiring in construction or repairs and ensure mechanical systems are in compliance with local or national regulatory requirements. Perform tests and locate potential mechanical hazards for repair. May inspect and repair mechanical systems in equipment or machinery and document results.

Responsibilities
Maintenance Mechanic, IVPerform maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of equipment and machinery. Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair issues. Work with mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems. Ensure proper wiring in construction or repairs and ensure mechanical systems are in compliance with local or national regulatory requirements. Perform tests and locate potential mechanical hazards for repair. May inspect and repair mechanical systems in equipment or machinery and document results. Highest-level support. Performs advanced tasks under minimal supervision. May mentor less-experienced team members.Requires 5+ years of related experience.This is a Highly Skilled Level position in the Support track.Job Code: S22694Grade: S21Expected Pay Range: $18.12 to $41.58
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Responds to trouble calls from building occupants and computer alarms.
2. Monitor building automation systems (BAS) and respond to system alerts and failures.
3. Reviews alarm summaries and makes building system adjustments on the Building Automation Systems.
4. Documents daily building system problems.
5. Utilize work management system software to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
6. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building HVAC equipment such as: chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps,
VAV boxes, fan coil units, and air handler units.
7. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building electrical systems such as: motors, VFDs, ATS, lighting, controls, and generators.
8. Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve system inefficiencies.
9. Actively step up and provide suggestions and recommendations on repairing orreplacing aging equipment and assets.
10. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new mechanical systems andequipment.
11. Coordinate with contractors and vendors during construction or renovation projects.
12. Fosters an environment of teamwork and growth within the department.
13. Work collaboratively with individuals internal and external to the department.
14. Adhere to OSHA, state, and University safety protocols in all maintenance activities.
15. Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
16. This position is considered critical staff' and is expected to participate in emergency management
17. This position will participate in a 24/7 on call rotation, and is responsible for both employee's safety and facilities day and night when assigned on-call duty.



Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Maintenance Mechanic, IV: Requires 5+ years of related experience.
