Job Summary

The Geography department in the College of Arts and Sciences at CU Boulder is accepting applications for a Temporary Researcher position. Who We Are

The Department of Geography is ranked as one of the top programs among the nation's doctoral-granting departments of geography. CU Geography has one of the nation's highest rates of Ph.D. placement in academic geography programs as well as one of the highest rates of external funding for graduate student research.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

This position will include approximately 2-3 weeks of fieldwork at several field sites in central Oregon, and thus the position requires travel. Field activities will include topographic surveying, assisting with drone-based data collection (LiDAR and imagery), collecting soil samples, measuring downed wood in rivers, and other geomorphic and ecological data collection tasks. Fieldwork will require travel from home, working outdoors, wading and sampling in small streams, and camping

Position will start on August 1, 2026, and will end on August 19, 2026.

What We Can Offer

The hourly rate for the position is $18/hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in geography, geology, environmental science; experience working on research projects in some capacity is preferred.
