Job Summary

Laboratory Technicians
Performs technical procedures in the HCI Biorepository research laboratory under minimal supervision by applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles. Responsible for maintaining work areas and equipment. Will assist with immunohistochemistry staining and image analysis.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions

Confers with senior laboratory personnel regarding the procedures and techniques to be followed in conducting research processes.
Receiving and processing patient biospecimens, labelling samples, and appropriate database entry and storage of samples.
Assist in staining slides for immunohistochemistry core, along with slide scanning and image analysis.
Assists in maintaining the physical environment of the lab.
Will assist in uploading patient information into database.

OSHA, HIPAA, and Biosafety training will be required after hiring.Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Laboratory Technician, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.

Preferences
Bachelor's degree in scientific discipline or equivalency; knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology, materials and substances. Skilled in human relations and effective communication skills.
