This is an essential emergency position.

This is lead work in maintaining the cleanliness of residence halls on the KU campus.

The work schedule is Monday-Friday 0700-15400.

An employee in this job functions as a lead worker for employees performing a variety of standard or aseptic cleaning and sanitation duties. Work involves cleaning buildings, gathering waste and recyclable materials, and using and maintaining custodial supplies and cleaning equipment. Employees in this job perform assigned day-to-day custodial duties independently. However, supervisory guidance and review are provided for new or unusual situations and changes in operating procedures.

Work is distinguished from the lower-level job based on lead work responsibilities over routine custodial work. Lead work is a permanent organizational relationship that includes assigning and explaining work, conducting on-the-job training, providing guidance, and reviewing the unit's work for adherence to standards. Approximately 50% of the CW2 role is performing work in an administrative capacity.

This employee provides support and assistance to the Custodial Worker Supervisor in leading and training the shift team in the performance of their duties while performing custodial work themselves. The person must be of high integrity and be willing to assume the responsibility of leading the crew when the supervisor is off work. They must always strive to set a good example for others to follow and be able to interface effectively with both workers and management.
