Job Summary:

As an important member of the CU Medicine Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant) will have clinical responsibilities in the outpatient/ambulatory Digestive Health Center Clinic.



The Advanced Practice Provider will see outpatients at the University of Colorado Hospital Digestive Health Center on the Anschutz Medical Campus at least 4 days per week (8 half-days of outpatient clinic consultations).



The successful applicant for this position will be someone who communicates appropriately and effectively with patients, staff, consultants, and colleagues, has outstanding customer service skills, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluation and management of GI disorders within the scope of a general gastroenterology advanced practice provider including:
  • GERD
  • Dysphagia
  • IBS/functional GI disorders
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding/iron deficiency anemia
  • Eosinophilic Esophagitis
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • Liver cirrhosis
  • Pancreatitis
  • GI motility disorders

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite at the University of Colorado Hospitals Digestive Health Center on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Nurse Practitioner
  • DNP preferred/MSN required from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure by a national professional organization.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Colorado
  • Admission to the Advanced Practice Registry of the Colorado Board of Nursing
  • Prescriptive authority required

Physician Assistant
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Colorado
  • Prescriptive authority

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working in Gastroenterology
  • Two (2) or more years of outpatient experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, community organizations and donors

  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical conditions, and interpreting findings.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and their family members, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$100,000 to $110,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
