Assistant Director of Catering


The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Assistant Director of Catering.

The Assistant Director of Catering (ADOC) is a highly visible leadership position reporting to Director of University Catering. The ADOC acts on behalf of the Director in his/her absence. Top three responsibilities include - assist in implementing initiatives that drive highest levels of guest satisfaction; employee development, satisfaction and loyalty; identify, cultivate and increase revenue streams that will further enhance University Catering's contribution to the University's academic mission. As a member of the University Catering senior management team, the Assistant Director of Catering will support the Director of Catering in operational design, growth strategy, product launch, and organizational initiatives aimed at establishing University Catering as est in class. Food and beverage and off-premise banquet/event operations experience is required. Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills are also required.

Operational responsibilities: Service and timely execution of catered events at multiple sites both on and off campus. Support culinary team involving sourcing, ordering, production, logistics and transportation, service, clean-up, and operational assessment of functions both pre and post service. Accountable for providing day-to-day direction within University Catering, with responsibility to surpass guest expectations whilst maximizing revenues. Undertake responsibility of Designated Event Coordinators' for all events deemed non-drop off with service expectations. This will incur expanded responsibilities for the coverage manager. Overseeing the development of service techniques and menu presentation and the introduction of new products and services to improve the service delivery process to clients and support the growth of University Catering.

Talent Development/Mentoring/Training: Responsible for the development of personnel within the department. Assist Director in the development of a skilled and experienced catering management team to effectively oversee day-to-day catering operations in key business areas including; Culinary, Logistics and Transportation, event preparation, service, and clean-up. Assist in overseeing the implementation of service techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Hotel, Restaurant management or related field and 5 to 6 years experience. Food and beverage and off-premise banquet/event operations experience is required. Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills are also required. The ability to work with many different people. The ability to work under pressure. The ability to handle multiple tasks at one time. Computer knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing. Indiana Bartenders License, NRA Serve Safe, Drivers License
