Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Assistant AD for External Affairs is responsible for coordinating the external affairs of the department of athletics with an emphasize on marketing and revenue generation. Serves as a liaison to multimedia rights holder Peak Sports and as liaison to licensing partner.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, responsible for effective strategic leadership, coordination and implementation of all internal and external marketing objectives with a strong emphasis on revenue generation (ticketing and development); Responsible for all execution, development and production of creative concepts and graphic design of marketing campaigns for ticket sales and other revenue generation of all sports, including printed, digital and video elements; Work with creative team to ensure the development and implementation of Lamar's Athletics' digital presence through marketing initiatives centered on social media, email marketing and website development; Effectively oversee game day execution for marketing at select sporting events, including promotions, giveaways and video production; Effective marketing of promotions and events via all channels and media social media, print, electronic media, etc.; Create effective relationships with fans and work to build a fan culture; Cultivating fan engagement on all social media sites including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.; Overall direction of marketing strategies and operations; Effective management, hiring, training and evaluating of marketing staff (full time, GA and/ or interns). Supervision and management of the Assistant Director of Marketing; Effective collaboration with campus constituents in support of marketing and promotion of athletics events; Accountable for maintaining compliance with to all relevant governing bodies to include: NCAA, specific conference, athletic department, university policies; Maintaining athletic marketing budget. Exercises independent discretion on all purchases and budgetary decisions for the athletic marketing area; Ensures positive relationships between the Athletics department and key stakeholders, to include alumni, local community, fans, parents, faculty and other University constituents; Responsible for role modeling positive behaviors and leadership for student-athletes.
Work with licensing partner on new licensing and branding initiatives.
Proven knowledge and ability of effective social media and general media advertising strategies. Demonstrated ability managing several social media sources for a Division 1 Athletics Department or equivalent.

Performs any additional duties as requested by the Athletics Director.

-Bachelors degree required
-Minimum of 2 years of experience
-Proven marketing skills, and the ability to establish rapport with both internal and external constituencies required.
-Able to tolerate flexible work hours weekends and nights
-Able to tolerate stressful situations
-Knowledge of NCAA rules required; Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Texas State University System and Lamar University rules and regulations.
