Job Description

Under the general direction of the Director of HR Operations, the Assistant Director has responsibility in two areas of HR Operations. This position is responsible for the development/refinement of practices, policies, and procedures pertaining to the talent acquisition, reclassification/classification as well as the day-to-day operations and oversight of the College's Talent Acquisition and Classification activities for its classified, faculty and professional employees. This positon directly supervises two high-level classified employees and one Senior Specialist professional employees who perform talent acquisition, reclassification, and classification functions. Also, the Assistant Director is actively involved in the creation and execution of strategies pertaining to various Human Resources related functions.

In addition to providing oversight to these functions, the Assistant Director also personally performs talent acquisition, reclassification, and classification functions, handling all talent acquisition at Director Level and above. The position is also responsible for providing training and assistance on a variety of special project endeavors including but not limited to: ensuring that the hiring policy is implemented through all active talent acquisitions, migration to the latest versions of HR- related software utilized by the College - Workday and other special project duties and assignments as requested by the Director of HR Operations and/or the Senior Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer in support of HR and/or College initiatives, programs and/or strategies.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Public Administration or related field, Minimum of 4-5 years of related Professional experience, and Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Talent Acquisition and Classification principles and the demonstrated application of those principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a work environment with ever changing priorities.
  • Ability to work well with a variety of employees at all levels with different styles and personalities.
  • Skilled at working with personal computer hardware and software including online Talent Acquisition packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise a work group to produce desired results.
  • Ability to communicate well including excellent written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Human Resources Practices, Procedures and Policies
  • Skilled in working/leading a diverse and multicultural work group
