Assistant Professor - Games and Game Design

The School of Communications at Webster University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Games and Game Design. We are seeking experienced game designers with a record of teaching success, 3+ years of experience as a game designer, an understanding of design theory and history, game engines, and a passion for game development. A successful candidate will have broad knowledge of the field, an area of specialization, and mastery of the technical requirements within the specialization. Pending final budgetary approval.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree, professional experience, teaching experience, and evidence of potential for academic career success are required; MFA or Ph.D. preferred. An understanding of game design principles, theory and documentation is mandatory as is an ability to collaborate with our other programs, including Animation, Film, Television and Video Production, and Interactive Digital Media.

Essential Duties
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses and advise students in Games & Game Design and related areas, provide faculty service, and engage in professional development, including scholarship and creative activity. We are seeking a colleague to work as part of a team, contributing to the continued revision and design of the game design program to ensure the maintenance of industry relevant courses and content, and be both collaborative and entrepreneurial, with skills, experience, and connections that complement those of colleagues in the School and across the University.
