Job Title: Clinical Trials Coordinator (Entry – Senior Level)

Job Summary:

The full-time (1.0 FTE) Clinical Trials Coordinator (Research Services Clinical Science Professional) will work within the School of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology. This position will join the team of Kevin Deane, MD, PhD. Dr. Deane's research primarily focuses on pre-clinical rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and learning more about how and why RA develops with the aim to work toward RA prevention. The primary focus of this role will be to work with our research study participants, recruiting, scheduling, and performing research study visits under the supervision of the clinical research manager. It will also involve some work with human biological samples (blood, stool, sputum, and saliva). The role will also be expected to capture and enter data in a detailed way and helping provide general research support to investigators and the rest of the study team.

This position will require appropriate and effective communication with participants, study team and study investigators, outstanding customer service skills, and maintain relationships that are equally respectful to all. Research visits and study activities will be conducted at the Barbara Davis Center on the Anschutz medical campus in Aurora.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in subject recruitment efforts, including communicating with patients expressing an interest and all pre-screening/screening activities. This could include outreach and coordination with outside events (like health fairs) where we work to get our study team and research out to the community. Would include outstanding customer service, prompt response to questions and scheduling of eligible and interested study participants.
  • Assist with and oversee the day-to-day operations of clinical trials and clinical research studies including obtaining subject's medical history, current medication, inclusion/exclusion criteria, informed consent, and appropriate documentation.
  • Independently master study materials, including but not limited to protocols, informed consent forms, and all other essential study documents for assigned studies.
  • Will be responsible for reporting on status of project, including recruitment, status of internal projects, etc.
  • Will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating shipping of research samples and related data to other collaborators as applicable.
  • Biological specimen processing and storage.
  • Safely and properly perform Induced Sputum collection.
  • May be responsible for maintaining supply inventory across studies.
  • May be responsible for acquiring and organizing supplies for execution of protocols in compliance with University fiscal policies.
  • Will be responsible for communicating with the PI, Project Manager, sponsor, and other contacts as appropriate and helping maintain and achieve project timelines.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Intermediate Level:
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year clinical research or related experience.

Senior Level:
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • Two (2) years clinical research or related experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in science or health related field.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR or other data management systems).
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English.
  • Two (2) or more years of phlebotomy experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Entry Level: $47,743 - $60,729

Intermediate Level: $51,956 - $66,088

Senior Level: $56,169 - $71,447

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
