Job Summary:
The Office of Development Services is an integral part of the Office of Development at the University of San Francisco. Development Services provides modeling and analytic support enabling potential and existing prospects to be effectively identified, canvassed and tapped for gifts to steadily increase fundraising capacity. The Data Analyst works with Major Giving officers and others to create customized reports with the intent to support portfolio management and the development of enhanced prospect fundraising strategies. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, Development Services, the Data Analyst develops and maintains individualized, interactive reports and data visualizations, prepares and analyzes data sets, and trains users in how to access self-service reports.

Responsibilities
Led by the Associate Director, the Data Analyst is responsible for the following:
  • Working directly with gift officers, creates and maintains individualized, custom, interactive reports, analytical datasets, data visualizations, and dashboards in Salesforce, Tableau, Oracle TOAD, Microsoft Excel, Rapid Insight, or other tools as needed, with the intent to support portfolio management and the division's long-range prospect fundraising strategies.
  • Extracts and documents business requirements from gift officers, and other functional users and stakeholders at the university, translating their needs into clear and concise technical specifications and subsequent useful reporting.
  • Assists Development leadership with research, analysis, predictive modeling, and the scraping, cleaning, and validation of useful, relevant data from internal and external sources.
  • Trains end users on the use of reports and dashboards, and how to access self-service reports.
  • Supports data stewardship efforts and develops the metadata supporting Development reporting systems.
  • Prepares and publishes internal and external data sets, reports, and surveys, such as U.S. News and World Report, VSE, and the annual Alumni Statistics and Gift Results report.
  • Participates and/or leads special projects as requested.
  • Supports the development of a culture of service to the University's various constituencies, including faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Researches and responds to requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree; a degree in quantitative field is preferred.
  • Ability to summarize and present data in a meaningful way that is accessible to members of Development and other University constituents.
  • Understanding of data management and data warehousing concepts preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience with business intelligence tools, such as Tableau desirable.
  • Minimum of two years of experience and knowledge in SQL desirable.
  • Demonstrated broad communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in maintaining databases, producing statistics, and technical support.
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive material in a professional manner
  • Ability to work both independently and in close conjunction with others
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal input from superiors
  • Capacity and willingness to learn quickly and independently
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, the University's Vision, Mission, and Values.
