Job Summary
This position will independently perform highly complex electroencephalographic procedures; provide technical expertise to EEG Technologist I and II; and to participate in research as assigned in the field of EEG technology.

Responsibilities*
  • Perform test procedures including evoked potentials, intraoperative, neonatal, ictal spect, mapping, extended EEG and video monitoring and Long-Term Monitoring studies.
  • Assist in training and supervising of technical staff.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and modify difficult recording procedures.
  • Participate in the conducting of research in the neuroscience area, as requested
  • Explain test procedures to patients and instruct patient in proper positioning, both before and during the recording.
  • Obtain all types of EEG recordings, including portables and brain death recordings, or related procedures within specialty areas.
  • Calibrate and adjust equipment, or inform Bio-Medical Engineering regarding equipment problems, to be sure it is in proper working condition.
  • Attend in-service training lectures and workshops as available.

Required Qualifications*
  • Associate degree is necessary; Bachelor degree is desirable.
  • Extensive experience as an EEG Technologist is necessary.
  • Certification by the American Board of Registration for Electro-neurodiagnostic Technologists in EEG and OR Monitoring is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Certification by the American Board of Registration for Electro-neurodiagnostic Technologists in Evoked Potentials is desirable.
  • Satisfactory completion of college courses in the physiological and biological sciences is desirable.
  • Satisfactory completion of an accredited program in END Technology is highly desirable.

Work Schedule
Work hours as assigned, between 7am and 5pm, or during evening and night hours, between 5pm and 7am. Participation in 24 hour on call schedule and overtime as assigned. Mandatory overtime is possible.
