Position Announcement

The SOE seeks to hire a full time, tenure track faculty member in the Applied Behavior Analysis program with a start date of August 1, 2024. Teaching assignments include both undergraduate and graduate courses and will vary based upon the expertise of the candidate and programmatic needs, but may include undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Applied Behavior Analysis program and Special Education. In addition to course instruction, the applicant is expected to contribute to the supervision of students obtaining fieldwork hours toward their BCBA credential. Applicants are expected to engage in scholarship/research and contribute to the continuous improvement of the department, university, and community through service related activities.

Under the direction of the Dean and the Chair of the Department of Graduate Education, teaches undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Serves the college and community. Produces scholarly work and follows professional and ethical standards.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Teach professional level courses. Prepare instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, etc.) as necessary. Maintain student centered approach to education. Maintain and submit accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability and performance. Conference with students regarding coursework, field work, and academic endeavors.
  • Improve professionally and maintain currency in the courses taught. Participate in scholarly activities.
  • Provide service to the school, university, and the profession. Participate in the school accreditation process. Develop positive relationships with colleagues, public school teachers, administration, and other education stakeholders. Serve on committees and attend faculty and other meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, or a field closely related to the field of instruction (or ABD with dissertation defense scheduled - degree must be in hand by position start date)
  • At least two years of experience involving the direct application of the practice of behavior analysis
  • Supervision and training experience related to BACB and licensure requirements
  • License eligibility or licensure in behavior analysis (LBA) in the state of Utah
  • Earned license in K-12 Special Education
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of college/university teaching experience
  • Evidence of scholarly pursuits and potential
Licenses or Certifications
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst - Doctorate (BCBA-D), Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA), SPED Teaching License
