Human Resources Associate (Temporary)

Position Summary:
This position will assist in administering HR processes and providing front line HR services for new hires, current employees, and exiting employees. This position provides services to all types of MSU Denver employees including administrative staff, student employees, and faculty. Participates in and supports process improvement, HR projects, and research/benchmarking. May direct the work of student and temporary employees.

This is a temporary non benefit eligible position.

Duties/Responsibilities:
55% Perform high volume deadline driven HR transactions and administrative processes.
The types of transactions and process include employment paperwork, requesting and tracking manual checks request background checks and computer access for new employees, benefits enrollment information, supplemental pay setup, data entry and record keeping confidential HR related information. Adhering to payroll schedules and monitoring time entry processes. Run reports and conduct monthly/quarterly audits related to HR processes and programs.

20% Provide front line HR services and support HR programs and processes.
Answer general questions about HR policies for new, current, and potential employees. Answer general paycheck questions. Collaborate with HR managers, team members, and customers on various projects and continuous improvements to HR policies and procedures. Document and communicate HR procedures.

15% Provide support to professional development activities and programs offered through human resources. Conduct employee and supervisor training. Facilitate, assist with, and present at new employee orientations and training/development sessions.

10% Participate in team and individual development activities.
Types of development might include increasing technical HR proficiency, customer service, team participation and collaboration.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Experience working in an office.
Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Experience working with confidential information and maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
Experience working in a Human Resource (HR) office or working in a specific HR role.
Experience in higher education.
Previous experience processing new hire paperwork.
Experience with Banner or related HRIS system.
Experience with developing and creating reports.
Previous experience with conducting new hire orientations and other employment related trainings.
