Instructor, Graphic Design

Title: Instructor, Graphic Design - 9/10 month (Term)

POSITION SUMMARY
This full-time faculty position is responsible for preparing and delivering quality instruction on topics in Graphic Design.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach courses via on-ground day and evening, hybrid or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned. Teaching will take place primarily at the White Bridge Road Campus with possible assignments at other campuses and sites where NSCC instruction takes place. Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, faculty are expected to teach a minimum of 15 hours and hold in person and virtual office hours as defined in college policy. Work with course leads and/or program coordinators to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences. Utilize the college's learning management system to provide course materials to students. Submit updated course syllabi prior to the first day of class. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar. Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success.

Remain current in the teaching area(s) through appropriate professional development activities. Regularly check college email and departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on weekends. Complete all required reports such as student engagement, early alerts, progress reports, grade submissions. Administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines. Engage in departmental institutional effectiveness activities. Provide academic advising to students with an emphasis on retention and success. Actively participate on divisional and institutional committees. Collaborate in building and maintaining relationships within and beyond the institution. Comply with all college and TBR policies and guidelines. May perform other duties as assign by the Academic Dean.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or higher in Visual Communication, Commercial Art, Communication Design, Computer Graphics, Graphic Design, Web Design or a related discipline, or a bachelor's degree in any field with 12 or more graduate hours in any of the preceding disciplines, OR

Associate's degree in Visual Communication, Commercial Art, Communication Design, Computer Graphics, Graphic Design, or a related discipline and 3 years industry work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MFA in Graphic Design

College-level teaching experience

Ability to teach a wide range of Graphic Design courses from introductory to advanced.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Knowledge of contemporary and traditional methods in the field, both digital and analog. Theoretical and technical expertise in graphic design practices and principles, typography, branding, computer programs, and digital design tools. Demonstrated experience teaching Graphic Design courses in a variety of modalities including in-person, hybrid, virtual, and asynchronously online. Demonstrated experience incorporating current technologies into teaching. Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and needs of student populations. Demonstrated commitment to student equity and accessibility. Strong ongoing creative practice as evidenced through a portfolio. Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a wide range of faculty, staff, and student populations. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Rate of Pay: $38,330 - $47,912 depending on experience
