This position develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of History courses. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities


  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Minimum Educational Requirements:
  • Must have a master's degree or higher in History
OR
  • Master's degree or higher in a related discipline with at least 18 graduate level credits in a related History/Studies (such as American History, World History, and/or Western Civilization) from om an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
  • Previous teaching experience at post secondary or college-level.
  • Experience teaching composition and literature preferred.
  • Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online.
  • Experience using a variety of instructional methods including: face-to-face, blended, and 100% online preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred

  • Online Information Management Systems - Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard - Experience with Blackboard, Blackboard Ultra, or other web-based course - management systems
  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
Emerging Technologies:
  • Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)
  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)


Supplemental Information

Start Date:
This position supports the General Education Pathway and could possibly start for the Summer (around June 11th) or Fall (around August 18th)
  • Seeking one part-time in-person/face-to-face AND one online instructor.
Hours:
This position is up to a .5 FTE the number of hours and location worked per week will vary based on course load, enrollment and departmental need.

Salary:
Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2023/2024 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
