MATC's Adult High School offers the opportunity for individuals (which includes MPS Students) age 16 and older to earn a high school diploma. Our comprehensive high school is accredited by Cognia, and offers a full range of academic and student support services.
Under the supervision of the Dean of the Community Education Division or designee to teach Physical Education courses including Health, Wellness, CPR, First Aid, Recreation and Group Exercise classes in the Adult High School realm. Courses to be taught face-to-face and online

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities


  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.
Minimum Education Requirements: Must have ONE (1) of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or higher in Health, Biology, Physical Education, Sports Management; OR
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) AND at least 15 coursework credits in Kinesiology, Biology, Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Sports Science, or Exercise Physiology.
Certifications: Preferred to have the following to teach HLTHHS- 744 CPR and First Aid:
  • CPR and First Aid certified

Online Information Management Systems - e.g. Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard Ultra or other web-based course - management systems
Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or another classroom technology
Emerging Technologies - Experience with social networking applications

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Community Education Division and is available to start in our Fall 2024 semester (i.e. on or about August 18th, 2024).

Hours/Location/Modality: This position is up to a .5 FTE.
  • Modality is face to face as well as online
  • Locations/Hours: Classes meet blended (face-to-face with some online) at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus on Tuesday, Wednesday, AND Thursday from 12:30 PM - 2:25 PM, with an additional four hours to be completed outside of class. Online classes meet 100% online, virtual, hybrid, or hyflex.
  • Classes to be taught include: Wellness & Fitness; Adult Recreation 1 and 2; Health for Adults; Adult CPR/1st Aid; Child CPR/Safety; Body Conditioning 1 and 2. These classes include movement based classes and some health classes. The classes are offered on a rotating basis depending on the need each semester.
Salary: Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2023/2024 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
