Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College is seeking a highly motivated dynamic, creative, experienced leader with proven effectiveness and strong management skills. This colleague demonstrates an understanding of the evolving role of the Learning Commons Model in a community college setting and has a record of developing metrics and unit plans aligned with success and effectiveness. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Truckee Meadows Community College, the Director will be a vital part of the Academic Leadership team. The Director oversees the development, coordination and implementation of programs and services for the general academic development of TMCC students. The Director will coordinate with directors of academic support units, academic department heads, and Deans to ensure services are appropriate and contribute to student retention and success goals. The Director will manage the internal operations of the Elizabeth Sturm Library and the Tutoring and Learning Center, which reside in the Learning Commons. The Commons provides technologically enhanced spaces for faculty and students to support innovative learning. The Commons encompasses integrated spaces for students, a qualified library staff to assist students with research, writing and math centers, a fine focus science lab, tutoring services for various disciplines, professional development staff, and adjunct instructor support. The Director is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising and assessing the resources and services of the Library and Learning Commons.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
2. At least four years of work experience is required in a higher education setting, with demonstrated administrative experience with program development or project management.
3. Demonstrated strength in collaborative leadership and management.
4. Experience coordinating and marketing education programs.
5. The ability to work with academic departments and divisions to implement programs.
6. Excellent oral and written communications skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, decision-making skills, and project management skills.
7. Demonstrated experience in developing and managing multiple budget accounts that reflects positive results.
6. Ability to value and encourage diversity, inspire and build trust, lead organizational and cultural change, foster innovation and empower staff growth.
7. Proven ability to communicate effectively, build and maintain relationships with colleagues across the institution.
7. Understanding of the emerging issues facing today's learning commons.
8. Commitment to responsive and innovative services and outreach, and can optimize resources.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Terminal degree in Library Science, instructional Technology, or pertinent discipline.
2. Experience with the use of OER across campus.
3. Experience working in a learning commons environment.
4. Experience with information literacy services and instruction in an academic library.
5. Evidence of interdisciplinary/cross-departmental collaborations.
6. Experience with innovative technologies.
7. College teaching experience and advising or tutoring experience.
7. Experience in a community college setting.
8. Accreditation experience.

Responsibilities:
Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

1. Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission, and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College.
2. Provide oversight and fiscal management of the Learning Commons.
3. Advocate for the Elizabeth Sturm Library, Learning Commons' faculty and staff.
4. Coordinate and collaborate with the Tutoring and Learning Center staff and faculty to create an engaging, innovative, and learning-conducive environment for Learning Commons patrons.
5. Support student learning and advance information literacy.
6. Provide a leadership role in planning and implementing a vision for the future of the Learning Commons.
7. Serve as an active and engaged member of the Academic Leadership Team.
8. Collaboratively develop assessment metrics for the Library and Learning Commons in order to engage in and meet strategic planning goals and data-informed continuous quality improvement.
10. Other duties, including oversight of media services, may be assigned based on the needs of the institution.
11. Evening and weekend work and travel may be required.
12. Understand and accept the role to be played as a partner in an educational enterprise serving the best interests of the students.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Salary Information: Minimum $88,686. Placement is dependent on education and experience.

Employment is contingent upon the completion of a successful background examination.
