Eastern Washington University and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders invite applications for an individual to serve as Lecturer. Start date for this position is January 13, 2020.


The position is a full-time Lecturer in Communication Sciences and Disorders. The Lecturer is a standard 9-month faculty appointment from mid-August to mid-May. There may be opportunities for a summer teaching contract.


The Lecturer position will carry a full-time teaching load of 30 contact hours per year. Current teaching needs are in the areas of alternative augmentative communication, phonology, treatment and assessment of communication disorders, and clinical education/supervision across the life span. All faculty are expected to actively participate in department activities and to engage in effective teaching.


Faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning. Additionally, the candidate selected for this position may be expected to teach face-to-face classes, hybrid or blended classes and/or online classes according to the needs of the department.

Conditions of Employment

This position receives faculty benefits which continue throughout 12 months each year.






Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology

  • Minimum of four years of clinical experience in a variety of practice areas, such as alternative augmentative communication, phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, adult voice disorders and aphasia

  • Previous experience teaching and/or supervising in a CSD program

  • Experience working with inter-professional colleagues

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Washington

  • Evidence of interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of local practice community

  • Five or more years of clinical experience in a variety of practice areas for children and adults

  • One or more years of teaching/supervision experience in a CSD program

  • Evidence of course development experience within an academic or clinical setting
