Position Information

Hiring Department: Teacher Education Department - College of Education

Posting End Date: Open until filled.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt.

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: Starting at $35,568 annually.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.



Purpose of Position

Under limited supervision and with moderate latitude for the use of independent judgment, coordinates the Ph.D. Program in Teaching, Learning, and Culture (TLC) related objectives and initiatives, keeps official records and executes administrative policies determined by or in conjunction with the Program Director for the Ph.D. Program in Teaching, Learning, and Culture.

Essential Functions

Has full knowledge about the TLC program and its similarities and differences from other programs; be able to provide thoughtful knowledge and effective practice to serve TLC faculty, students, and applicants; be able to develop, implement, and improve student recruitment strategies for the TLC program each year.

Coordinates administrative procedures for information processing, record maintenance, funding compliance; compiles, verifies and prepares materials and information to comply with required reports, surveys, analysis; administers recordkeeping procedures and monitors records for appropriate information retention.

Assists the TLC program director and the TLC committee with planning and enacting initiatives to improve the TLC program (e.g., committee meetings, task forces, meeting minutes, curriculum revisions, policy development, documents' revisions and updates, grant writing functions, program internal and external activities).

Assists TLC faculty and students with TLC matters (e.g., course registration, retention efforts, milestone progress, room reservations, policy and regulation reminders, event announcements, forms' completions, and submissions).

Has excellent communications skills to coordinate assigned TLC activities and resources; works effectively with others to analyze areas, satisfy planning needs, and document program effectiveness and compliance with appropriate guidelines; works to remove barriers that impede continuous improvement.

Serves as an advocate for the TLC program to obtain support for the program both within the department and in the community; designs and creates systems to address specific program goals; makes recommendations to ensure established standards are met.

Coordinates communication efforts/marketing plans for the TLC program by researching and releasing information, through multimedia outlets (e.g., website, Facebook, Twitter/X), to current/prospective students; develops brochures, newsletter, flyers, booklets, and other publications for internal and external use.

Plans, coordinates, and implements TLC events (e.g., student orientations, admission interviews, workshops, seminars, open houses) and examines these events' effectiveness and areas for improvements.

Has the knowledge of all Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software and be able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Evaluates effectiveness of support functions and recommends changes.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university within areas of education, social science, or business.

and

Experience: Four years of related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree

Recruitment experience in a higher education setting

Previous program coordinator experience for PhD students strongly preferred

Experience with social media platforms
