Position Description
Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.



Major/Essential Functions
  • Assists & meets with referred students in understanding University Academic processes and/or campus resources.
  • Provides case management by monitoring and tracking individual cases/progress. May include reviewing and processing incoming reports via Maxient, email, phone, or walk-ins.
  • Promotes student advocacy by providing recommendations, ongoing assessment and addressing new or emerging concerns as they arise/transition from campus services to external providers (e.g. Mental Health services, housing, food, etc.), and from external providers to appropriate College services (e.g. upon return from emergencies).
  • Provides consultation, guidance, and follow-up for employees/faculty/students/families who are working with students of concern and/or who are in crisis by assisting and pre-assessing student behaviors as needed and connecting students to campus and community resources. Follow-up with students, faculty, staff, and families as needed.
  • Documents, inputs notes, and adds student of concern information to Maxient. Supports and assists the Maxient administrator team as needed.
  • Assist and support the Associate Dean of Students and Assistant Director with students of concern as requested (i.e. call emergency contacts, etc.). Serve as a back-up to Associate Dean when needed and to respond to hospitalized students on weekday evenings and weekends. Participate in Dean on-call rotation as needed.
  • Attend the Behavior Intervention Team, Case Management Team, and the Student Withdrawal Team meetings as needed to discuss students of concern.
  • Represent the Office of the Dean of Students and Student Life by serving on University committees, task forces, work groups as assigned.
  • Provide administrative support to the Office of the Dean of Students and Student Life and/or on assigned tasks.
  • Develop or provide training for Students of Concern on behalf of the Office of the Dean of Students to the Texas Tech Community.
  • Participate in and facilitate education and outreach efforts of the Office of the Dean of Students including but not limited to tabling, presentations, programs, events.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution sessions to assist students who are experiencing conflict, need coaching to navigate a conflict, or require multi-partial facilitation of an interpersonal conflict.
  • Develop and provide training for conflict resolution pathways on behalf of the Office of the Dean of Students to the Texas Tech Community.
Proficient technological skills and ability to learn organization-specific systems and databases; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent organizational skills; Excellent customer service skills; Ability to analyze and synthesize data and information; Basic understanding of conflict resolution pathways and experience navigating interpersonal conflict.


    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Master's Degree. Experience in higher education environment; experience with administrative responsibilities. Versed in concerns relating to students of concern, experience in working effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and community agencies; knowledgeable of and ability to interface with a broad spectrum of the institution's various constituents and stakeholders; able to articulate policies/procedures in an effective manner; knowledge of conflict resolution pathways or experience resolving interpersonal conflict.

    Experience with college students; Experience with sensitive and/or crisis situations; Familiarity with the practice, concepts, theories of counseling, higher education, or social work; Expertise and training to facilitate multipartial conflict resolution sessions with individual or group parties to a conflict.
