Position Information

Hiring Department: The Diana Natalicio Institute

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm.

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.



Purpose of Position

Manages and coordinates systems and tech support activities in performing internal operations within the Diana Natalicio Institute. Provide support for the newly established Center for Evaluation Research and Synthesis, an NSF-funded project. The role will contribute to the goals and objectives of the project, including managing and maintaining data resources and products for the unit and working with partners across the country.

Essential Functions

Collects, compiles, and analyzes research data.

Uses statistical methods and relational databases to analyze data sets.

Prepares or assists with preparing reports of research findings.

Assist with planning, developing, coordinating, and administering research projects.

Assists with formulating research objectives, programs, and priorities.

Assists with authoring or editing technical reports and summary findings.

May assist in designing and creating computer programs for research applications.

May trains users on the operation and data management of research equipment.



Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.



Complies with all State and University policies.



Other duties may be assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: May carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws.



Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree Law with an emphasis on comparative Law.

and

Experience: No minimum experience required. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills. Strong analytical, technical, oral and writing skills in English and Spanish. Flexibility to travel from time to time across state and federal boundaries. Ability to interact with tact and discretion with all manner of stakeholders in the region, especially with research institutes, universities and other higher Education Institutions and organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:



Degree in law with specialization in US-Mexico legal frameworks and comparative systems in the US-Mexico context.

1 year of experience in conducting research projects associated with comparative legal systems.

Solid grounding in the political and legal structures which prevail in the PdN region.
