The Data Science Program of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Sciences at St. Catherine University invites applications for a temporary Summer Camp Instructor - AI & Data Science Program for the Summer 2024. This position is gift funded.

The undergraduate college at St. Catherine University (St. Kate's) is one of only six US institutions that is both a women's college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Kate's is home to a diverse group of around 3,500 students in varying disciplines and degree levels. The Data Science Program of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Sciences encompasses courses on creative problem-solving, collaborative data analysis, and visual data storytelling.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and implement curriculum for the AI & Data Science Summer Camp, incorporating interactive lessons, activities, and projects suitable for camp participants.
  • Deliver engaging and informative instructional sessions on topics related to artificial intelligence, data visualization, and other relevant areas.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and support to camp participants as they explore AI and data science concepts through practical exercises and projects.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where camp participants feel encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and collaborate with their peers.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors and camp organizers to coordinate logistics, plan activities, and ensure the smooth operation of the summer camp.
  • Supervise camp participants during scheduled activities, breaks, and lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with camp organizers, providing updates on curriculum implementation, participant progress, and any issues or concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings as required, staying informed about camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.



Duration: Temporary, Summer Position during June 17-22, 2024 8:30AM -3:30 PM

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or higher in data science, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in artificial intelligence, data analysis, data visualization and data science concepts and principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire camp participants of varying ages and backgrounds.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively plan and execute curriculum activities and projects.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and a passion for inspiring curiosity and creativity in young learners.
